Welcome to FasterPass Driving Instructor Training Centre
If you're considering a rewarding career as a Driving
Instructor, we hope that this information will help to
answer some of the questions you may have and get you
started on the way to becoming a Driving Instructor.
At FasterPass we have a proven successful track history and
we're ORDIT registered (Official Register of Driving
Instructor Trainers). This means that our premises, training
methods and records are inspected biannually by the DSA
(Driving Standards Agency) and that we operate all our
training to their high standards as well as adhering to
their code of practice.
Meet our team
of DSA, ORDIT registered trainers. As well as Grade 6
instructors, other qualifications include members of the
Institute of Advanced Motorists / Cardington Grade A / DIA
Classroom Teaching Certificate / Diamond Advanced.
Our trainers are experienced, patient, and friendly, and all
training is conducted on a 'one to one' basis tailored to
suit individual needs. We deliver the highest standard of
training, and adhere to the DSA ORDIT code of practice as
laid down by the Driving Standards Agency, and the ORDIT
steering committee.
If you have any further questions about our courses or

Requirements The Driving Standards Agency (DSA) state that if you want to
become an Approved Driving Instructor (ADI) you must .....
*hold a full British or Northern Ireland unrestricted car
driving licence;
*have held it for a total of at least 4 out of the past 6
years prior to entering the Register after qualifying, but:
*a foreign driving licence, an automatic car driving licence
or a provisional licence held after passing the driving
test, all count towards the 4 years;
*not have been disqualified from driving at any time in the
4 years prior to being entered in the Register;
* be a fit and proper person to have your name entered in
the Register. All convictions, including motoring offences
still in force (i.e. not ‘spent’ under the Rehabilitation of
Offenders Act 1974) will be taken into account
when we assess your suitability to be entered in the
Register; and
*pass the Register qualifying exam.
in addition you should be aware that you cannot accompany a
person to drive unless you have held a full U.K. driving
licence for three years and must be aged 21 or more. A
foreign full licence will count towards this three year
period but it must be a foreign licence that is accepted
under the ‘exchange’ scheme. For more details of the
exchange system you should read Section 4 of the D.V.L.A.
pamphlet D100 “What you need to know about driving licences”
available at most post offices.
The Exam Course Structure
To be registered as an ADI (Approved Driving Instructor) you
must pass all the three parts of the qualifying examination.
Part One - A theory test involving 100 questions plus
‘Hazard Perception’.
Part Two - Eyesight check and a practical test of your
driving ability.
Part Three - A practical test of your ability to
instruct.
There are two courses available:
‘PAY AS YOU LEARN’ - This is the most flexible method of
training as it allows you to study for all of the three
parts of the examination around your current commitments.
There is no need to pay any deposits with this course as the
times and durations of your tuition would be tailored to
meet your needs. There is usually a waiting period by the
DSA (Driving Standards Agency) of around six weeks between
each part of the examination and this course has proved to
be most successful. FasterPass would be ‘overlapping’ your
training for parts 1, 2, and 3 so as to allow you to qualify
within the shortest possible time.
‘DISTANCE LEARNING’ - This course allows you to attend the
FasterPass training centre for a three and four day period
prior to each part of the examination and receive your
training on a more intensive basis alongside your home-study
pack. Once again, this course has proved successful, should
you prefer a more intensive course or perhaps if you are not
within easy reach of Lancashire.
